My last post Father’s Day When Somone Is Missing gave some tips on using grief rituals to make the day a little easier.
As tomorrow in Australia is Father’s Day, I want to continue the theme of shining on ‘Dads’ by sharing with you a selection of my favourite father quotes as well as a video clip, “A Song for Dad” by Keith Urban (keeping the Aussie connection strong).
Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle
voices call him father – Lydia M. Child
There’s something like a line of gold thread
running through a man’s words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over
the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave
into a cloth that feels like love itself – John Gregory Brown
Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad – Anne Geddes
It is a wise father that knows his own child – William Shakespeare
I cannot understand how I managed to cope without getting cuddled this many times a day – Russell Crow
It doesn’t matter who my father was; it matters who I remember he was. – Anne Sexton
Sometimes the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritance – Ruth E. Renkel
The older I get, the smarter my father seems to get – Tim Russert
It is not flesh and blood but the heart, which makes us fathers and sons – Johann Schiller
It’s only when you grow up and step back from him, or leave him for your own home: it’s only then that you can measure his greatness and fully appreciate it - Margaret Truman
A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child – Knights of Pythagoras
I love my father as the stars. He’s a bright shining example and a happy twinkling in my heart – Terri Guillemets

I’m losing my father and along with the horrible hurt of watching helplessly as he is slipping away. Is it possible to actually be greiving before he is gone? Has anyone else experienced this? I honestly do not have a clue how I will ever go one without my Daddy.
