Meet Maureen
Hello there, thanks for stopping by and getting to know me better……………………
My journey and what was to become Esdeer started 4 years ago in Coral Bay in Western Australia. At that time I was reeling from the devastating loss of my 18 year old son and I had ‘escaped’ to the sun and sand to process my grief and allow myself some healing time. Part of that involved long periods of contemplation and reflection and it became very clear to me then that I would use my own experience of grief to help others……the idea for Esdeer had become solid.
I am committed to using that experience to inspire, support and help others to overcome adversity. I now do this in a number of ways:
♥ Provide resources and information on topics such as grief, healing, resilience and spirituality which assists in adapting to grief
♥ Help bereaved parents, who are struggling with guilt to find comfort, hope and inspiration
♥ Provision of 1:1 Grief Steps Coaching sessions – click here for more information
♥ Donate a percentage of profits to help other bereaved families
♥ Volunteer for The Compassionate Friends (a worldwide support organization helping bereaved families)
My background involves working as a Registered Nurse for many years in Palliative care, providing nursing care, and emotional support to those with a life threatening illness and their families. In recent years I have seen families struggling with the “loss” of their loved ones, through Alzheimer’s disease and understand the devastating effect that can have for all.
In my own life, I have suffered one of the worst losses of all (the death of a child) with my beautiful son, but have also said goodbye to both my parents, nursed my own dad through his own personal journey with cancer, and lost many beloved pets over the years. I am a regular contributor to The Compassionate Friends (TCF) newsletter and am a TCF phone contact in the South West of Western Australia – available for bereaved families wanting support and information. I write for Open to Hope and am thrilled to be a contributing author for the Speaking Your Truth Volume II compilation
So, looking back on my life so far, it seems the path has been laid out for me to work in the area of grief and bereavement and to help others. I believe that if my experiences can in some way help others then that is what matters most to me, that is what inspires and motivates me.
My wish is that I can leave people with 3 gifts:
♥ The Gift of Comfort: you are not alone
♥ The Gift of Hope: there is a future
♥ The Gift of Inspiration: you can keep on keeping on
